I'm not looking for your money (on this page anyway). What I'm looking to do is create a small group of people who are trying to get their online business up and running. As a small group, we can help each other get out websites ranked in the search engines, or on the front page of some of the large news aggregation websites (like Digg, reddit etc.)
There are two simple, and free, ways to improve website ranking, and to attract traffic.
Backlinks
Having links to your site from other domains, improves the authority (or reputation) of your site. This can be as simple as submitting a blog post to digg, or including a link to your site when you comment on a blog article on someone else's site.
Making backlinks in this manner, on your own, is very valuable but very tedious to do. I have found a few free services that allow you to quickly submit links to several sites very quickly. Using these semi automated services does allow you to make backlinks to your site quickly, but if you have a few friends do the same thing for you, the links (and your authority) can build up even quicker.
Free traffic to your site
I have seen it myself on this site. If I am lucky enough to attract attention on a news aggregation website, I get huge traffic to my site and from that traffic, my sales go up. On my own, a have been lucky enough to have this happen a few times. After seeing it happen, I know that if I can do this on a regular basis, my sales revenue will grow dramatically.
These are two free ways to get stuff done to help your site get traffic. There are lots of paid services that can get this done too. The problem is that the cost can exceed the revenue you get from the traffic (for new small sites). I would like to be able to use the free services to get similar results as the paid services which I just cannot afford right now.
Here is my proposal:
I would like to form a small network of five to seven people who also want to build backlinks and traffic to their new and developing internet business.
Within this group we would help each other build backlinks to our sites, and help to promote news submissions to the "front page"
Its as simple as that.
I have a few ideas on how to accomplish this which I will share once the group has been formed. I would also hope to hear ideas from other members of the group. My dream is to get each one of our sites on the front page of Digg (or similar). By accomplishing that task, you can count on tens of thousands of visits to your site. More traffic means more money.
Now, a group like this would have to be formed on honor and trust. The best way to build that is to be able to verify that each of us is fullfilling our committment to help the others. I believe that I have come up with a way that we can show eachother what we have contributed to the group effort.
In a longer term view of this project I would like to see each of us recruit our own small group that can further leverage the power of networking.
Here's an example:
If our initial group of eight (you seven plus me) are able to provide 10 diggs each (I'll explain how one person can digg an article 10 times later) to a blog article, that is 80 diggs with 80 comments. This is a great effort towards getting on the front page. Now if each of us has a group that provides another 70 diggs and comments, each. That is 640 diggs and comments. Almost guaranteed to hit the front page.
Can we do it? I'm not sure, but I'd really like to try to do it for each of us. If it works once, it will probably work again and again.
Another example:
I can spend an hour promoting a new blog post, and get 30 backlinks to my site. Eight of us can all do the same thing and get 240 backlinks. If we can do this for each other once a week, in a month we can each have almost 1000 new backlinks to each of our sites!!
In addition, I would hope that over time, this group would learn new marketing techniques and apply them within the collective (resistance is futile!!! JK)
Who is the right person for this group?
My intent is for this to be a group of new internet marketers who know a bit about internet marketing and are struggling to get a new website business up and running.
This is not for setting up a new site, or for learning about internet marketing from scratch.
This is about applying some basic techniques, in a group setting for mutal benefit.
